Rep. Ilhan Omar, a U.S. Congress member representing Minnesota’s 5th district, shared her thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets on March 11, 2025. Known for her active engagement in political discourse, Rep. Omar addressed topics ranging from international justice to local sentiments and legislative decisions.

In her first tweet of the day, Rep. Omar commented on the arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. She stated, “Rodrigo Duterte terrorized the Filipino people with his war on drugs, overseeing the killings of thousands. Today, he was arrested and sent to the ICC to face justice for crimes against humanity.” She added that this development represented “long overdue justice.”

Later that evening, she reflected on her home state with a more personal note about Minnesota’s community spirit despite its cold climate. She expressed warmth by saying “Minnesota’s weather may be cold, but our hearts are warm.”

Concluding her series of posts for the day, Rep. Omar announced her stance on a legislative matter through another tweet. After casting a vote against what she described as a partisan measure, she wrote “Rep. Omar issued the following statement after voting NO on the partisan Continuing Resolution (CR).”
