Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing transparency regarding the Epstein files, a resolution honoring victims at Annunciation Catholic School, and condemning recent actions by the Trump Administration in the Southern Caribbean.

On September 3, 2025, Omar wrote: “I’ve signed the discharge petition! The truth shouldn’t be hidden behind closed doors. Release. The. Epstein. Files.”

The following day, she referenced her work with Senator Amy Klobuchar and others from Minnesota’s congressional delegation: “Together, @SenAmyKlobuchar and I led the full Minnesota delegation in introducing a resolution honoring the victims and survivors at Annunciation Catholic School. Our community has shown incredible strength and we stand with them as they heal.” This statement highlighted ongoing efforts to recognize and support those affected by incidents at Annunciation Catholic School.

Later that same day, Omar criticized executive actions related to Venezuela: “I condemn the Trump Admin’s lawless and reckless actions in the Southern Caribbean. Congress has not declared war on Venezuela, or Tren de Aragua, and the mere designation of a group as a terrorist organization does not give any President carte blanche to ignore Congress’s clear”

Omar has served in Congress since 2019 after previously holding office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. She was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982 and currently resides in Minneapolis. Omar earned her BA from North Dakota State University in 2011.
