Rep. Ilhan Omar, representing Minnesota’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress, made several statements on social media expressing her views on the Alien Enemies Act and political retaliation against the labor movement.

On March 27, 2025, Omar tweeted about the historical use of the Alien Enemies Act, stating, “The Alien Enemies Act was last used to imprison Japanese, German, and Italian immigrants during WWII. Now, Trump is using it to deport people without due process. Read my op-ed with former Rep. Mike Honda on why we must repeal this law for good.” Omar emphasized the need to repeal the act and directed readers to her op-ed for further discussion.

Later on the same day, she encouraged her followers to read her op-ed, posting, “Read the full op-ed https://t.co/FJXdu6hwUY”.

Addressing labor movements on March 28, 2025, Omar commented on the political climate, asserting, “This is nothing more than political retaliation against the labor movement. Trump and his billionaire allies want a workforce they can fire at will, without cause or due process. They want to dismantle unions so they can strip workers of protections, silence whistleblowers, and”
