In a tweet posted at 22:30 UTC, Rep. Omar expressed her honor for Sue Abderholden’s contributions to mental health advocacy over the past 24 years with NAMI Minnesota. She recognized Abderholden’s work on the House Floor.
At nearly the same time, she made another statement calling for a ban on congressional stock trading, asserting that “public service should never be about private profit.”

She criticized GOP efforts and actions by the Trump administration and DOGE that she believes undermine worker safety agencies. Omar stated her commitment to fully funding these agencies and supporting legislation aimed at protecting American workers.
Omar was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982 and currently resides in Minneapolis. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011.
