Rep. Ilhan Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent activities in Minnesota through a series of tweets. Her posts cover various engagements and initiatives she has been involved with from February 18 to 21.

On February 22, 2025, Rep. Omar tweeted about the impact of federal funding cuts by former President Donald Trump on Head Start programs across the country. She stated, “Here’s what I’ve been up to this week in Minnesota (Feb 18-21): Donald Trump shut off funding for dozens of Head Start programs across the country. I started my week off at @PICAHeadStart Training Center to hear from educators on ways the federal funding cuts would impact…”

In another tweet on the same day, Rep. Omar highlighted her engagement with Black community leaders and local officials during an event held in Minneapolis. She expressed gratitude for their contributions, stating “I held an event in Minneapolis to connect with Black community leaders and local officials from across Minnesota’s Fifth District. During Black History Month, and every month, I’m grateful for their leadership and support in building the brighter future our communities deserve.”

Additionally, Rep. Omar met with Sharon Smith, founder of the People of Color Career Fair, to discuss promoting diversity and inclusion in workplaces amidst challenges posed by policies from the Trump Administration. She noted “I met with Sharon Smith, the founder of the People of Color Career Fair, to discuss how we can continue to prioritize building diverse and inclusive workspaces…”
