Ramsey County announced on May 4 that the tech industry continues to play a significant role in the local economy, even as it experiences changes and stabilization. The county said tech jobs make up nearly 4% of its workforce, providing strong wages and long-term career opportunities. While growth has slowed compared to previous years and postings for entry-level roles have declined, officials say tech skills are increasingly important across a wider range of job titles and industries.

Tech Month is being recognized as an opportunity to acknowledge the resilience of the technology sector. The county said this evolving field is critical for driving innovation, solving complex challenges, and supporting economic development.

To support job seekers interested in technology careers, Ramsey County is offering resources such as listings for tech jobs on Job Connect, information about training opportunities, drop-in computer help at local libraries, access to Ramsey Connected programs, and labor market reports focused on the tech industry.

A series of events will take place throughout May. These include Minnebar19 at Best Buy Corporate Campus on May 2; Angel Fest at Huntington Bank Stadium from May 6-7; “Co-Intelligence: The Next Competitive Advantage” at Lab651 on May 7; Tech on Tap networking event at Blackstack Brewing in Saint Paul on May 12; Founders Day at Toaster Innovation Hub in Minneapolis on May 13; Data Tech 2026 conference at Best Buy Headquarters in Bloomington on May 15; Entrepreneurs’ Rally XIV: Focus Forward Scaling with Intention at Union Depot in Saint Paul on May 27; Open Source North conference at University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul on May 28; and Createch creative spaces for teens hosted by Saint Paul Public Libraries.

The county encourages residents to explore these resources and attend upcoming workshops or conferences to connect with people shaping the future of technology locally.
