St. Louis County officials announced on April 30 that the upcoming Picnic with a Purpose event will focus on highlighting mental health supports available in the community.

The event aims to bring attention to the importance of accessible and effective mental health services for both children and adults. Organizers say that engaging residents through community gatherings like this can help increase awareness of local resources and encourage people to seek support when needed.

According to county officials, the advisory council was formed in fall 2020 with the intention of uniting diverse perspectives on mental health. The group’s primary goal is to improve mental health services within local communities by identifying existing resources and offering recommendations for changes, additions, or improvements.

The advisory council provides guidance directly to St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services as well as the County Board, focusing on how best to serve residents’ mental health needs.

Officials hope that events such as Picnic with a Purpose will foster ongoing dialogue about community wellness and ensure that all residents are aware of available support options.
