The National Federation of Independent Business – Minnesota called on April 29 for Governor Tim Walz and state lawmakers to address the concerns of small business owners following the governor’s 2026 State of the State Address.
Jon Boesche, state director for the National Federation of Independent Business – Minnesota, said in a statement that recent regulations are increasing costs for small businesses. “Governor Walz’s final State of the State Address left much to be desired. While the Governor touted measures to address affordability, he ignored the impacts of burdensome regulations, such as the Paid Family and Medical Leave mandate and payroll tax, that are contributing to the rising costs. As Minnesota’s small business community struggles to adjust to these regulations, owners are faced with increased costs which are leading to lower growth and higher prices for goods and services. If Minnesota continues down the current path, our state will lose its competitiveness and overall appeal.”
