Minnesota State Representative Isaac Schultz announced on April 27 that the final weeks of the legislative session will focus on issues such as tax relief, school security, and combating fraud in Minnesota.
Schultz said he aims to address what he describes as a clear difference between “common-sense priorities” and a “radical agenda” in St. Paul. He emphasized his commitment to protecting constituents’ finances, improving school safety, and fighting ongoing fraud concerns in the state.
A community town hall is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at the Upsala Community Center from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., where Schultz plans to provide updates from the House floor. He invited residents to join him for coffee and conversation about legislative developments just before the end of session.
Schultz also addressed Governor Walz’s upcoming State of the State address. While acknowledging that previous addresses have focused on progressive policies, Schultz said he hopes this year’s speech will concentrate on immediate challenges facing Minnesotans. “Minnesotans are tired of excuses,” Schultz said.
He called on Governor Walz to support several measures including creating an independent Office of Inspector General for oversight, holding state agency employees accountable for malfeasance related to fraud, providing property tax and car tab fee relief given a budget surplus exceeding $3 billion, aligning state tax laws with federal changes for efficiency and fairness, opposing gun bans targeting law-abiding citizens, rejecting metro-area bailouts tied to sanctuary policies, and resisting legislation that would limit federal law enforcement activities in Minnesota.
Schultz concluded by encouraging constituents to follow his updates on social media platforms.
