Rep. Ilhan Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on her social media account, including medical debt policy, the release of Epstein files, and constituent services.

On July 18, 2025, Omar posted: “Medical debt shouldn’t exist, let alone belong on your credit report. Trump’s decision to re-add it to credit reports will punish millions for getting sick. It is cruel. It is time to eliminate medical debt once and for all.”

The following day, July 19, she commented on the ongoing debate over documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “This is the GOP on the Epstein files before versus now. The hypocrisy is unmatched. It’s time to release the files.”

Later that same day, Omar highlighted her office’s work assisting constituents: “I’m proud to announce that our office has helped return nearly $3.75 MILLION back to Minnesotans through casework this year! We’re just getting started! During this week’s resource fair, my office helped #CD5 constituents with federal agency issues related to social security,”

Omar has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Keith Ellison and previously held a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. She was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982 and currently resides in Minneapolis. Omar graduated from North Dakota State University with a BA in 2011.
