Ilhan Omar, a U.S. Congress representative for Minnesota’s 5th district since 2019, known for her advocacy on various social justice issues, shared opinions on critical national and state matters through social media posts.

On April 8, 2025, Omar criticized the current governance under the Republican party. She expressed concerns about their ability to govern effectively. “Since taking power, Republicans have struggled to govern responsibly and the fallout has been felt across the country.”

In a post dated April 9, 2025, Omar addressed the layoff of staff responsible for essential services in Minnesota by Elon Musk, calling the decision unacceptable and advocating for Minnesotans’ rights. “Musk laid off the entire staff responsible for delivering electricity, water, and heat assistance for Minnesotans. Unacceptable. Minnesotans deserve better.”

Additionally, on the same day, Omar congratulated the Brooklyn Center Boys Volleyball team on a notable achievement. “Congratulations to the Brooklyn Center Boys Volleyball team on their milestone win!”
