On January 22, 2025, Rep. Omar shared a statement regarding President Trump’s executive order to suspend all refugee movement and USRAP cases. She posted a link to her full statement on Twitter: “Rep. Omar’s Statement on Trump’s Executive Order to Suspend All Refugee Movement and USRAP Cases”.
Later that day, she emphasized the importance of due process as a fundamental aspect of the legal system in another tweet dated January 22, 2025. She stated: “The right to due process is a cornerstone of our legal system. It doesn’t matter what your immigration status is — you have rights under our Constitution, and you should know what they are in the event that it becomes necessary.” Rep. Omar advised individuals to be prepared and make family plans.
In a subsequent tweet on January 22, 2025, Rep. Omar criticized recent executive orders signed by President Trump, describing them as harmful to immigrant communities. She announced her support for re-introducing the Neighbors Not Enemies Act with her colleagues: “Two days ago, President Trump signed executive orders that are a blatant assault on our immigrant communities.”
