Progress continues on the Highway 93 Henderson project despite winter construction challenges, as reported by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). Current work includes excavation, embankment placement, and bridge construction. The project has seen approximately 130 miles of wick drain placement to accelerate soil consolidation. The Rush River Bridge has been removed, and construction of a new bridge is underway. Crews are driving over 3,000 piles for column-supported embankments and installing drilled shafts for pier support.

A drone video showing the project’s progress is available online at MnDOT’s website.

Highway 93 has been closed since April 15, 2024, with traffic rerouted to Highways 169 and 19. Completion is expected in late 2026, although schedules may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. The project involves raising Highway 93 about eight feet above historic high-water levels, reconstructing a stretch from Highway 169 to Elm St. in Henderson, replacing the Rush River Bridge, and constructing an overflow bridge for flood relief.

MnDOT advises motorists not to bypass barricades or enter the construction area for safety reasons.

The contract was awarded to S.M. Hentges & Sons with a bid of $30,606,833.65.
