Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress as the representative for Minnesota’s 5th district, has expressed a range of concerns and activities through several recent tweets. These tweets offer insight into her positions on dismantling USAID, her interactions during a district work period, and her criticism of priorities in the House of Representatives.

On March 26, 2025, Omar criticized the impact of dismantling USAID, attributing harmful consequences to former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. In her tweet, she stated: “Dismantling USAID has caused a worldwide global crisis. Because of Trump and Musk, Minnesotans lost grants, contracts, local jobs, and $70 million in Minnesota-based food exports were cut off. No matter what they tell you, it’s unconstitutional.”

A subsequent tweet dated March 27, 2025, highlights Omar’s involvement in her district during a busy period of local engagement. Omar underscored her efforts to collaborate with various stakeholders as follows: “Last week, we had a busy district work period across the Fifth District. I spent some quality time with Minnesota students, community advocates, and local organizations to talk about how we can work together to strengthen our communities. This is cogovernance in action! “

Later the same day, Omar expressed criticism towards the House Republicans, pointing out what she views as misplaced legislative priorities. On March 27, 2025, she remarked: “With the economy on the line, healthcare under attack, and working families struggling, House Republicans had us waste time voting on efficiency standards for walk-in freezers and commercial fridges. This is what happens when an unserious, dysfunctional party controls the House.”
