A grass fire burned more than an acre of land in White Township on May 1, according to local authorities. The incident took place at around 12:51 p.m. in the 3700 block of Highway 100, about 11 miles south of Aurora.

The fire was contained without any damage to nearby structures. Several area fire departments responded to the scene along with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and St. Louis County Emergency Management.

Officials said the blaze started after a homeowner had been using a walk-behind weed trimmer shortly before the fire began. Quick action by responders helped prevent further spread.

Agencies involved included the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Palo Fire Department, Colvin Fire Department, Lakeland Fire Department, and St. Louis County Emergency Management.

Authorities did not report any injuries or loss beyond the affected acreage.
