General Mills releases 2026 Global Responsibility Report highlighting progress in food, planet, and people

General Mills released its 2026 Global Responsibility Report on Apr. 15, detailing the company’s environmental and social progress during its fiscal year from May 27, 2024, to May 25, 2025. The report outlines achievements across three main areas: Food, Planet, and People.

The report is significant as it marks General Mills’ ongoing commitment to transparency in sustainability efforts and social responsibility. It also highlights how the company is advancing goals that affect consumers, communities, and the environment.

Among notable achievements in food production for fiscal year 2025 were plans to remove certified colors from U.S. cereals and school foods ahead of schedule by summer of 2026; maintaining leadership as the largest U.S producer of natural and organic packaged foods; expanding whole grain offerings; introducing new pet food lines; supporting food recovery through MealConnect; and providing diverse dietary options. The company reported that one in ten North American products is certified organic or made with organic ingredients.

In environmental initiatives under ‘Planet,’ General Mills advanced regenerative agriculture on more than 800,000 acres—over three-quarters toward its goal for 2030—and achieved zero waste to landfill at all owned manufacturing facilities globally. The company also reduced total value chain greenhouse gas emissions by fourteen percent since its baseline year of 2020.

For community impact under ‘People,’ General Mills contributed over $83 million in charitable donations worldwide during fiscal year 2025 and enabled more than seven billion meals through philanthropic partners. Eighty-six percent of employees described it as a great place to work with a strong sense of belonging.
