The City of Winona announced on May 6 that it is developing a habitat management plan for the natural areas of Prairie Island Park and is inviting public input. A meeting will be held this Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 207 Lafayette Street.
The city said community involvement is important for shaping the future management of Prairie Island Park’s natural spaces. Residents can also provide feedback online through Sunday, May 10 by filling out the Prairie Island Habitat Plan form.
Those who have attended previous input sessions are encouraged to participate again or submit new comments through the online form. The city said it values ongoing engagement from residents as part of its planning process.
Questions or comments about the project may be directed to John Howard, Sustainability and Natural Resources Coordinator, via email at Jhoward@winonmn.gov or by phone at 507-457-8273.
Broader participation from community members is expected to help guide decisions about how to best preserve and manage Prairie Island Park’s habitats in the coming years.
