The City of Otsego announced on May 5 that it is inviting residents to provide feedback on the first phase of the Prairie Park Master Plan. Community members can share their input either in person at an upcoming event or online through a questionnaire.

According to city officials, public participation is important for shaping the design and selection of play equipment, as well as other park amenities. Residents are encouraged to attend the Touch a Truck event scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 at Prairie Park from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., where park designers and city staff will be available with materials for review and opportunities for input.

In addition to the in-person event, an online questionnaire has been made available specifically for Otsego residents. The survey focuses on playground elements, pavilion criteria, and general project feedback. The city stated that the survey will remain open until June 8.

Planning for Phase 1 follows approval of the Prairie Park Master Plan in 2024. The plan includes updates and new amenities based on previous community engagement efforts. Full improvements are expected to take place over the next decade, with construction for this phase anticipated during spring and summer of 2027.

Current work involves refining concepts, developing detailed designs, and gathering further community opinions about features such as playgrounds, a new pavilion with restrooms and concessions, expanded parking areas, ballfield enhancements, trail updates, Veterans Memorial upgrades, irrigation systems, and landscaping improvements.

The City encourages all interested residents to learn more by reviewing additional materials provided through its website.
