The City of Caledonia announced on May 6 that the Water Department will start flushing city water mains beginning May 18. Residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water during this period.

Flushing fire hydrants is a routine maintenance process aimed at maintaining the quality and safety of the municipal water supply. The procedure helps clear out sediment and ensures that hydrants are working properly.

The City advised residents and businesses that if they experience discolored water, they should turn on several faucets inside and outside until the water runs clear. This method is expected to resolve any discoloration caused by the flushing process.

Anyone with questions about the upcoming maintenance can contact the City Water Department at 507-725-3402 for more information or assistance.

Routine activities like these help ensure safe drinking water for all users. The City said it appreciates residents’ cooperation during this scheduled maintenance.
