Minneapolis – Common Cause Minnesota, in collaboration with ACER Inc. and Hired, will host two candidate forums in the Twin Cities area for Minnesota House Districts 38 and Brooklyn Park City Council candidates on July 30 and August 1, ahead of the August 13 primary.
The first forum features House District 38 candidates Huldah Hitsey (38A), Robert Marvin (38B), Wynfred Russell (38B), and Chris Chubb (38B). It is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30 from 6 to 8 pm at the Brooklyn Park Library located at 8500 West Broadway Avenue, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445. The second forum will present candidates for the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center City Council: Shelle Page (BP Central), Wole Osibodu (BP Central), Tony McGarvey (BP West), Martino Nguyen (BP Central), Amanda Cheng Xiong (BP East), Teshite Wako (BP Central), Jamal A. Said (BC), Joshua Jensen (BC), and Andrew Johnson (BC). This event is set for Thursday, August 1 from 6 to 8 pm at Brookdale Library located at 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430. “Voters deserve to have as much information as possible before casting their votes,” said Annastacia Belladonna-Carrera, executive director of Common Cause Minnesota. “We encourage the public and media to come ask important questions of these candidates and how they plan to work for we the people.”
Belladonna-Carrera also urged voters to take the Me +3 pledge by ensuring their voter registration is updated and encouraging three others to do the same. She emphasized early voting options including in-person or absentee ballots.
Common Cause Minnesota along with ACER Inc. and Hired emphasize that they are nonpartisan organizations that do not endorse or oppose any candidates or parties. The forums aim solely to educate voters by providing access to candidate platforms.
