ATV rollover near Pierz sends two to hospital

On August 30, 2025, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an ATV accident on the Soo-Line Trail between Partridge Road and 335th Avenue in Hillman Township, about six miles east of Pierz, Minnesota.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that Troy Pelland, 58, from International Falls, Minnesota, was driving a side-by-side ATV westbound when he lost control. The vehicle entered a steep ditch and rolled over. Both Troy Pelland and his passenger, Lori Pelland, 57, also from International Falls, were transported to St Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance. Their injuries were not specified.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Pierz Fire Department, Pierz First Response Team and Mayo Clinic Ambulance assisted at the scene.

“The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on 8-30-2025 at approximately 6:52 pm, their office received a report of an ATV accident with injuries on the Soo-Line Trail between Partridge Road and 335th Avenue, approximately six miles east of Pierz, MN in Hillman Township.”

“According to the Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Troy Pelland of International Falls, MN was driving a side-by-side ATV traveling west on the Soo-Line Trail. Pelland lost control of the side-by-side, entered the steep ditch and rolled. Pelland and his passenger, 57-year-old Lori Pelland of International Falls, MN were transported to St Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with unknown injuries.”

“The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the MN State Patrol, Pierz Fire Department, Pierz First Response Team and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.”
