ATV crash near Pierz leaves Rice man severely injured

A man was seriously injured in an ATV crash on the Soo-Line Trail near Pierz, Minnesota, according to a statement from the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred at approximately 8:29 p.m. on April 5, 2025, about one mile southwest of Pierz in Pierz Township.

Authorities said that Lloyd Orth, 59, of Rice, Minnesota, was operating an ATV traveling west when he lost control. The vehicle rolled and landed on him. Orth was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

He was transported by North Air Care to St. Cloud Hospital with severe injuries. “This case remains under investigation,” stated the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders from the Pierz Fire Department, Pierz First Response Team, North Air Care and Mayo Clinic Ambulance assisted at the scene.
